This is a “banana” spider, likely a female as they can grow to 3 inches long. More info here: https://owlcation.com/stem/The-Biggest-Spiders-in-Florida#gid=ci026c77236000257a&pid=the-biggest-spiders-in-florida. The variety in FL is harmless, but one with a similar name in Brazil is harmful.

Yes, the Latin name is Trichonephila clavipes. They are one of the species that have gold-colored silk. I’ve only seen one in-person, in Florida, and it looked quite intimidating. My husband got as far away from it as he could 🙂 though I said it was harmless.
