Comments & ID Thoughts

Trochosa Ruricola is my guess. Usually I just call these huge spiders "Dungeon Spiders" because there are many of them living in my basement. These spiders do not appear to build webs, they're nearly always seen wandering. They have a leg span as large as a U.S. .25 cent piece and sometimes larger. Some of them have appeared to be aggressive to humans at times, for example in the Spring, but most of them seem to not be interested in human lives. This spider was photographed in my living room on the window curtain. They're more often found in the bathrooms when found upstairs rather than in the basement. Next time I will try to catch a much more clear photograph of these Dungeon Spiders. (I am afraid of them.)

Hi, welcome to Spider ID. 🙂 I think I would need to see a clearer image to be sure what this is. If it’s as substantial as you imply it might be a Huntsman (Sparassidae) of somesort but for the area it is more likely a Running Crab Spider (Phildromus sp.).
