Could this be a Triangulate Cobweb Spider (Steatoda triangulosa)? At the click of the camera, it bolted into the hole in the tree. 30 minutes later, as we returned on the trail, it was back in the same spot outside the hole and I got good pictures (camera on silent). Big... 4-5" long with its legs as shown.
