Comments & ID Thoughts
I live in western mass, found this in my toddlers outside play house towards the ceiling. It immediately grabbed its egg sac and has yet to let go of it after I safely removed it with the insect vacuum. After some research, I strongly believe this to be a brown recluse, although rare to our area. Any help identifying would be greatly appreciated. Body is about an inch long. Long skinny legs.

Could really use some help on this…I have small kids and would like to know if I have a recluse problem somewhere around my house. I don’t know what else this could be other than a hobo spider but being in Massachusetts I can’t imagine it. Please help!!
Hobo Spiders and Brown Recluse are not found anywhere near Massachusetts. This is a harmless Nursey Web Spider (Pisaurina mira). They are very skittish spiders. If you haven’t killed it yet please place it outside near some bushes. They prefer to make their nursery web constructions in low vegetation.
