No, it would be very unusual if you found a Brown Recluse in Ohio. Please don’t worry about them. This is a female Wolf Spider, possibly Hogna baltimoriana. She is using her spinnerets to carry her babies in their egg sack. She will carry and guard them until they are ready to emerge. Then she’ll start carrying them by letting them ride on her body until they are too big. There are predatory wasps that inject eggs into big spiders and their egg sacks. The wasp larvae feed on the host. She is constantly on guard against threats like that.… Read more »
