You got the ID! I learned some new things while looking up your question, that’s always a good thing. What source for range did you use? BugGuide.net has sightings in 28 states. They are also in other countries. The common name is a Hackled Orbweaver. There is form without markings that I just realized I probably failed to identify in photos. This family of Orbweavers has a unique set of characteristics not found together in other spiders: They don’t have venom They make orb webs, but the webs aren’t sticky – they’re fuzzy instead.
