This looks like an American funnel web spider. They’re pretty much harmless. They tend to build shelf like webs that funnel down into a hole or an area that they’ve made into a little den. They wait for prey to wander across their funnel and then they run out and grab it. They’re great for removing garden pests and random insects, but if you have shrubbery or clutter around your house they will sometimes come inside. I’ve also seen them make very stately homes in small holes in the foundation or siding of houses.
