I think it might be a Barn Orb Weaver Spider but not certain. We are in the MD Foothills too and have spotted a few this summer.

Yeah I agree. Cross orb weaver another name for it.

No she’s a Araneus gemmoides (cat faced/jewelled orb weaver). Not a Araneus diadematus (cross orb weaver).
