Tan Jumping Spider! No sites have it listed in Utah so I’m very happy to see one!
Looks to be a type of “Jumping Spider.” Harmless to humans infact are very friendly. They have adorable personalities. Smiling faces, large fangs for eating flies not biting people.
Yeah I love them! They’re basically like little tiny cats with eight legs. I’m fully convinced they would’ve domesticated themselves by now as pest controllers if arachnophobia wasn’t so common
Yes Platycryptus undatus! That is so cool that you found one in Utah, it’s an Eastern US spider! I like to try to add new species for new locations on citizen science sites like this. Bugguide.net would be a good site to post it to. They have some volunteers who are interested in tracking expansion and contraction of ranges. I’ve added quite a few new locations, it’s always fun.
Oh, thanks for the idea! I totally will, i was super hyped when i found out it wasn’t documented here!
I found one of these in Springville, Utah today and just uploaded it. Is it the same kind?
It sure is! Another female, like mine. I guess they’re very much in Utah now
