This guy is making giant webs on my awning and my porch everyday and my grandchildren are scared of it!
What kind of spider is it and should I be worried?

She’s a Black and Yellow Garden Spider, Argiope argentata. She’s an Orbweaver. The orb (circle) webs are the inspiration for the spiderweb emoji. Your grandkids might like comparing her web to the emoji. Many Halloween decorations have orb web patterns on them. If the kids are young they might like trying to find depictions of orb webs on Halloween decorations in a store. Despite the attempt to make them look scary for Halloween, Orbweavers are safe animals, like black cats and owls. She has venom, it is a quick way to kill prey.
