Zipper spider, also known as "yellow garden spider". They're known for making webs with a zipper-like pattern.

I found the same one in my yard last week. In Virginia.
Wow very cool! I’ve got a few along the side of my house, they’re kind of scary because of how big they are but honestly, they’ve gotta be the least aggressive spider I’ve seen. The one pictured has actually gotten bigger since I’ve taken that photo!
I applaud your effort to conquer your fear of spiders.
Your spider is also known as Argiope Aurantia. They used to be one of the scariest things I had ever seen.
