Upstate ny was locking up chicken coup in our wooded yard after dark and came inside felt something in my hair and this docile spider fell on floor and allowed me to scoop into plastic bag . Felt like I had walked into something so I’m assuming this is what I had walked into. Is this a araneus saevus ?

Hello fellow NY’er. You are correct, it is indeed an Araneus saevus. I actually just came across one a week or so ago, well I should say my pup found it lol for having a common name of fierce orb weaver, they are extremely docile. I scooped the one I found right up in my bare hands and she sat perfectly still in my cupped hands while I relocated her to the base of a tree. I posted her in a fb spider group I am apart of, gorgeous spood.
