It’s one of the Steatoda species False Widows. Yes, their venom is medically insignificant. She may have an egg sack nearby that she is guarding. Unless you could see swollen pedipalps and are sure it’s male. An egg sac can make a female spider a bit aggressive. The childen should be taught to avoid using bare hands with insects and spiders to avoid physical and chemical defenses. Also to avoid putting pressure on the spiders’ bodies. Like other animals they might bite if they feel trapped or pained by pressure.
