Surprise! It isn’t a spider! 😮 They’re in class Arachnida .> order Opiliones. Spiders are in order Aranae. A major visual difference is the number of body segments. Spiders have their body separated into 2 segments with a little tube between the parts.
A functional difference is that spiders need liquid food because their digestive tract is narrow and food needs to get through that little tube. So spiders use external digestion to liquify the prey. Opiliones can actually chew (a little) and don’t have fangs.
