Thought maybe a wolf spider? It was on the top of my knapsack as I entered my house, and I definitely felt like I walked through some webbing to get to my door. I had just come home from the grocery store, but I didn’t buy any bananas/tropical fruit, only local stuff!

Araneus sp. She didn’t come from the imported produce, she’s a local. I’m glad people are becoming more aware of imported organisms. I got banned from a farm stand for checking tomato plants for bugs that I wouldn’t want in my garden. I keep a list of places I’m banned from because of lame stuff like that. 😉 I prefer to support local farms too. She’s an elderly Orb Weaver in genus Araneus. They seem to stop making webs after they oviposit their eggs. Then they come down toward the ground, weakly. They look for easy water sources at ground… Read more »
