Brown Widow. Latrodectus geometricus. 😉 Yes, the males are tiny and would only approach a female to attempt to mate. If it was a different species it would be dead. It might become dead soon anyhow before or after mating. Hopefully after.

It is your choice. They will only bite if skin is pressed against them, hurting them. The babies will try to get away from each other because their siblings are hungry cannibals. They will spread out. If you remove them, new Widows may take their place. Our site’s volunteers usually just move Widows and the egg sacs away from where they might be touched and let them live. There are anti-venoms for Widow bites at many hospitals. Children have no natural fear of spiders, it is learned. We try to educate without creating unneeded fear.
