burn the house down. jk its just a garden spider but dont let it live, please give it a painfull death.
Nope fool. She knows it’s a Wolf Spider female carrying her babies with her. And we don’t do painful (one “l”) deaths here. Anyphaena, I’ll go with your tentative ID, you know the spiders of your area much better than I do. We have a really cute submitted photo somewhere of a spooked mother Wolf Spider with her babies hiding under her, clinging to her legs, and peering out from under her.
Thank you I’m working on helping to prove this species with 700 observations of them. Every male I find has been immature, I’m not good with epygme pictures and only do pedi palps also I won’t euthanize a spider to prove species. The chance will present itself hopefully, if not than hopefully all the pictures will help someone else. The picture you described which I’ll go look for reminds me of the many times I’ve observed Momma Wolf Spider’s “ditch” their egg sac due to danger and have found then searching frantically the next morning.
