Diaea dorsata
You may know more about your local Crab Spiders than we do. Genus Diaea is possible and they can be pale between molts. I couldn’t find any images of a spider of that species with spots. It may be a Crab Spider that can change the colors of its body and markings to match the surroundings. It is done through internal movement of pigmented chemicals to match what the spiders’ eyes see. This could be a green spider that made itself paler to match the snow. It is helpful that you mentioned the patches of snow. I’ll add a link… Read more »
Diaea species. There are some spiders in this genus that can change color somewhat. They can be considered unidentifiable to species level, even with a microscope. D. dorsata is the best match for your location.
Thanks @TangledWeb!
For this species with visible spots check https://www.flickriver.com/photos/kahhihou/46472830684/.
Could be Diaea livens, as in last several photos on https://www.arachnology.cz/rod/diaea-65.html?jazyk=en
D. livens does look similar and it is a geographic possibility. https://wsc.nmbe.ch/genus/3613 The link is for the World Spider Catalog, a project to list and track taxonomic changes of all the spider species in the World. The primary world regions for each species is listed on the horizontal bars. The project doesn’t have the resources to list every location for every species, but it is a trustworthy source for accuracy.
I asked around, and got one rather confident reply that it is Diaea livens.
We’ll see if there is any more info.
Thanks @TangledWeb!
