This looks like something in the family Thomisidae. There’s a lot of species in this family (around 2,100 according to google).

Genus Xysticus, I think. https://www.google.com/imgres I think someone said Thomisidae is the largest spider family. Nobody expects us to memorize all of its species in the World. I only have about 4 Crab Spiders memorized. So, I used Google Lens to get a hint for Genus. The images of species with skull-like markings are quite similar. My next step is to use BugGuide to see what Xysticus species are known in New Mexico. I once asked a true expert what books he recommended for identifying spiders online. Xysticus sp. Ground Crab Spider. I checked Bugguide’s New Mexico listings and they only identify one Xysticus sp. to species level and it isn’t this one.
