Pretty sure it’s Araneus gemmoides, Cat-faced Spider, we call them Cat spiders here. They come in many shapes and sizes and are usually found in their webs, which are often built in old barns or infrequently used porches. I had one living between deck rails that I watched for months once, then one day I went to visit it and it and it’s web had disappeared. I have never known if someone murdered it or if it simply moved away in the middle of the night leaving no forwarding address.
