Comments & ID Thoughts

I believe this to be a brown recluse. What do you think?

Wandering Spider (Ctenidae sp.)

LittleSlingLover

The only fishing spiders I am aware of that could be found in Costa Rica are from the families Trechaleidae and Pisauridae. Neither families have members with those abdominal markings. However there are several genera of Ctenidae spp. that have them, such as this Ctenus sp. from Costa Rica https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/105135728 The one you posted here is a mature male, hence the lanky legs and long, reaching palps. I am sure that many Ctenidae spp. are are at least half-decent swimmers but I don’t think it is a Fishing Spider or Long-Legged Fishing Spider species.
