Comments & ID Thoughts
I used some sort of spider identification app on my phone and it said this is a northern crab spider. I have no idea if that's correct or not but the picture that app showed me looked nothing like what is here in my house. I love in east Texas between Dallas and Louisiana.

I’m pretty sure it is not a Northern Crab Spider, Mecaphesa asperata. Despite the common name, it can be found in Southern states. What app are you using? Google Lens doesn’t account for location at all, but iNaturalist might. It might be a Bark Crab Spider. I took a photo of a Crab Spider that has the same shape and texture, I haven’t identified mine either. ;(
Tubular anterior eyes possibly Xysticus??
Probably, I can’t see them.
Shoot I apologize
No need! I don’t know as much about them as you do and the photos and website look different on different browsers and devices. I might just have a lower resolution screen, my iPad wasn’t born yesterday. I got teased by Best Buy employees for still having one that uses a USBa charger. “It still works?!”
I tried my Android phone, it has a high res screen, but still looks the same. Unfortunately I discovered the ads on our site are so obnoxious that they cover almost everything with no way to close them on my phone (Google browser, I think).
Why am I laughing????
I didn’t mean to add that comment to the thread on identification of this little Crabby Family Thomisidae and I was just laughing because I completely understand. The struggle is so real!!!
