I am wondering if anyone knows what kind of spider this is? I was changing my sheets and it was on my mattress. Coincidentally - I think I may have been bit by a spider or some kind of insect on my big toe yesterday - I had strange symptoms... extreme joint pain and could hardly bend my toe. It was extremely sore and it was sudden without explanation. I had been wearing flip flops and going in and outside so it’s just a guess. There are 2 small red dots on the skin. I digress! Anyhow if anyone knows if this guy is safe please let me know! Thank You!

This species is harmless. This is one of the Herpyllus spp. of the Ground Spider family Gnaphosidae. Possibly H. ecclesiasticus, the Eastern Parson Spider. https://spiderid.com/picture/1561/
