Comments & ID Thoughts

This bastard was pretty big. My first thought was a wolf spider or a hobo spider.

This is a Funnel Weaver Family Agelenidae. They are not aggressive and not medically significant to humans. This appears to be a female. The eye arrangement and webbing rule out a Lycosidae or Wolf Spider. Just FYI they have removed the “Hobo” Spider from the medically significant list. The Tegeneria do not have medically significant venom and it’s been proven that they do not have Necrotic venom. So no worries with this female, she’s not a threat to you or your family. Take care

Hobo spiders usually build their webs under objects or other hidden areas, not in such an open space as that one. The body color and proportions also don’t look like a hobo.
Beautiful spider. Love the defensive posture!
