Please don’t be a Brown Recluse… please don’t be a Brown Recluse… please don’t beeeee
Since you found this in CA, it’s probably not a brown recluse (Loxosceles reclusa), but rather L. deserta, the Desert Recluse. They’re probably just as venomous.
Based off the size and the appearance of how the legs are positioned, this should be a Huntsman Spider. Most likely Curicaberis sp. https://bugguide.net/node/view/1208430
@ScarySoCalSpider These spiders are harmless.
By how the legs are positioned, do you mean how the tarsi are kinda flat to the wall instead of “tiptoed”?
Yes like how the legs are turned kind of sideways. I can’t remember if there is a term for it.
While looking it up I got distracted by this awesome video https://youtu.be/V4odlo0Afjs of the escape method of the Golden Wheel Spider, a Huntsman. In sand dune habitat it curls its legs and body into a sphere and rolls extremely fast down a dune.
You guys are awesome! Thank you… I slept in one of those “Bubble Boy” outfits from the 1980’s movie just in case
