I would love to know what type of spider this is and any interesting information about it. I found this spider in a bucket filled with water in our pool. I originally thought the spider was dead but saw some movement. I wanted to save it so I dumped out the water and realized it was alive. I also noticed that it had a web built under the water. Is it possible for a spider to do this?

She looks like Pisaurina mira, an American Nursery Web Spider. They are in the Fishing Spider family, Pisauridae. She’s holding her egg sac with her fangs and is covering it with her body. Large spiders and their egg sacs are targeted by parasitic wasps that use them as living incubators for the wasps’ larvae. So she is protecting the eggs from wasps and other predators by shielding them. I don’t know if they make underwater webs, that’s interesting.
