Saw it on my shed door when I went for mower. I have two young kids want to make sure not poisonous…. Initially thought maybe orbweaver?

Dolomedes tenebrosus. It looks like a less common version of the markings on a Dark Fishing Spider. https://bugguide.net/node/view/1796351 The link is to another photo of one with bright white markings They’re usually brown, black, orange, and a little bit of white. It doesn’t have medically significant venom. New York is relatively quite safe, from the venomous animals perspective. The only spiders in the USA that have medically significant venom are the Recluses and the Widows. That’s all! Fishing Spiders are really cool animals. You can show the kids that it can float.
