Comments & ID Thoughts
I am a spider enthusiast and was 99% sure this was a male brown recluse soon as I saw it. After dispatching that spider, I found a bigger one 4 feet directly above it, which I believe was the female. If you look closely at the one pictured it is missing two legs. I believe the female may have attacked the male after mating which is why he was missing legs. Also directly below the male and female was a freshly decomposed slug, which looked like her or their dinner. On some websites it says brown recluses do not reside in WV, but I know many around here who have been bit and I grew up hearing stories of them around here. Can anyone with expertise clarify if my thoughts are correct?
