Hi this is just a guess. This could be a 6 spotted fishing spider https://spiderid.com/picture/1489/. Perhaps. Other fishing spiders in the Dolomedes genus can also be outlined in white. And it could be something else entirely.

I agree with Dolomedes triton. Thank you for being clear about your level of certainty. Even the World’s top experts sometimes have to indicate when they aren’t sure. There’s a latin word for it, but I don’t use the Latin word that people don’t know. 🙂

Thanks for that. I think you’ll find that experts uncertainty stems from their knowledge of all the possible alternatives. Mine comes from the polar opposite. . I hope you don’t mind me chancing my arm having a go at identifying some of the spiders on the site. I really am a total novice.

This is how we all started here. So, we don’t mind at all. We’re all still learning. We attempt to be able to identify any spider in the World from photos, technically it isn’t possible even for a group. You’ll learn quickest by jumping in and doing it.
