I believe this is a Scotophaeus blackwalli (Mouse Spider) seen on outside wall of my home. I live in southern California at the foothills of Mount Baldy, San Gabriel mountains. They usually come out when it is warm, Spring and Summer.

Hi I’m just a site visitor so your guess is as good as mine. I noticed a striking resemblance between your spider and another harmless introduced species common in California – Metaltella simoni. https://spiderid.com/spider/desidae/metaltella/simoni/. The behavior you describe though doesn’t quite fit this one. It is more at home in moist spots under logs where it builds its webs. The next time you see one, have a look at its hind end.
