Comments & ID Thoughts
Have seen a bunch (10 total) since I moved into this house 2 years ago. But usually smaller. Quarter in photo for size reference. I know it would help I’d if I trapped it or got close up but I’m petrified of them. Always see them in my finished basement. And typically in area near the basement bathroom/shower or near laundry machine and laundry tub. Concerned because I have a newborn baby in house so I need to know if they are dangerous and what to do.

Hi, this is a Wolf Spider (Lycosidae) – looks like Tigrosa helluo. You can reduce the number of spiders you find in your home by sealing cracks around floors, doors, windows, foundation etc., vacuum everywhere and empty the canister outside. Like most spiders they have venom but are unlikely to bite except in self defense and are not considered to be of medical significance – everyone’s immune system is different though.
