Araneus marmoreus var. pyramidatus. This is a Marbled Orbweaver. She is a markings variation that seems to be found mostly in Canada. It looks very different from the regular various markings of this species. Thank you for adding the anterior view also.

They usually start red and alternate with white to black alternating with white. Red and black appear to be the same color in different concentrations in Araneus species. That would allow for black to replace red on the legs of this variation. A. normandi has some yellow on it’s legs. The upper abdominal pattern is different. Right now nobody is labelling the photos. Our Admin. and our Site Moderator are the only two people with the access to change that field. Our moderator is away from the site during the pandemic. I volunteered to do the moderating, but she couldn’t transfer the access to file data and photos to me. The site is being updated by our Administrator.
