Picture of unidentified spider

Comments & ID Thoughts

This spider lives in the corner of my house outside. He/She spins a marvelous, big web every evening. During the daytime, the spider is nowhere to be found, nor is its web. From the research I’ve done, I believe it is some sort of Orb Weaver. The picture was taken this evening. I had the flash on, so you can actually see the spider in the photo. Since I had to use the flash, the spider’s legs cast a shadow. It may look like it has 16 legs rather than 8 LOL. I would like to know exactly what kind of spider this is, as I feel I have a relationship with him/her now. Call me crazy, but I often talk to it. I like spiders, because they kill the bad bugs. My son swears that it’s poisonous, but I assured him that it is not. I just want to make sure that I am correct. I would like help identifying this spider please. Also, I’m not sure how you tell, but by any chance, can you tell if it’s male or female? Thank you for your time. Have a great day!
