That looks like a recluse, possibly brown recluse.
Thanks for the reply. This may be off-topic, but do you know of any efficient ways to get rid of them? I’ve found three of them in two days, one of which was in my son’s bedroom hiding behind the bed, so I’m quite uneasy about this discovery
Try placing whole dried bay leave at the base of window sills and doorways that lead outside, otherwise you may need an exterminator they can cause some health issues if bitten so please be careful!
Brown recluse careful their bites can be absolutely awful and cause necrosis!
Thanks a lot for your comment and the suggestion about the bay leaves! I’ve read a bit about the brown recluse online and it seems to be typical of the Mediterranean area and poisonous, especially present in Italy. But I do not find any deaths reported caused by its bite except for one in Italy where the person had already had other health issues (I’m aware though that “poisonous” need not automatically mean death as the outcome of its bite), nor have I seen any reported cases of severe necrosis etc. Is it possible that the ‘Mediterranean’ and the ‘American’… Read more »
They are not different they do however have venom that causes necrosis my brother got bit by one and 1 and a half weeks later he had a hole in his thigh went to the hospital where they packed it full with cotton and gauze their bites can be absolutely terrible! I’m not sure about death but their venom will definitely eat away flesh and tissue!
My god, sorry to hear that. I’m definitely going to make sure to keep them away from my house!!
