I think this might be just a male giant house spider in the genus Eratigena – just going by its size, general hairiness and the shape of its pedipalps. They are the mouth feelers at the front of the spider. They end in what looks like boxing gloves in male spiders. https://www.naturespot.org.uk/species/giant-house-spider
Thanks mate, assuming you typed that out with ease this means it isn’t dangerous at all? I’ve got a raging phobia and am absolutely petrified at the thought of them hiding about. Only asking if you know ofc are these things common? Like do you reckon there’s a high chance I may come into direct contact with a few living in my house waiting to surprise me? Thanks, you’re awesome. Still not at ease about it though…
You poor thing. They are harmless. While they are common, they are shy and more afraid of you than you are of them. They tend to avoid people and are very good at it. Once a female finds a good, very out of the way spot, to make her web she will stay put. Males tend to go wandering looking for a mate. But I have ever only seen one or two in the house and then only briefly.
