She’s probably Steatoda grossa, as you said. Her pattern is a little bit different than typical, but that can happen. S. grossa seems to be the most abundant False Widow species in South Carolina. She can eat ticks, gotta love it!
Yes! That is great that they eat Ticks. I have even heard that Grossa attacks Latrodectus spiders.
