They can internally shift chemicals to appear the same colors and patterns as what the spider sees around it. The spider also poses its body to have the colors and shapes lined up with the environment they are hiding in. I agree. Sometimes these are called goldenrod spiders. Colors and patterns can vary quite a bit. Common sightings may have red lateral stripes on the abdomen.
