Comments & ID Thoughts
Welcome to the unofficial SpiderID resource share! This is a place for identifiers to share information about spider resources they find helpful, especially resources that are available online.
Meet Fred. He hangs out at the local baseboard. Fred is a pseudoscorpion, or book scorpion, and consequently an appropriate mascot for our resource library.
Please comment thoughtfully, keeping personal discussions on other threads to maximize accessibility and usability of the resources posted here.
Anyone interested in discussing Fred himself, please comment on one of my other photos to get my attention, and I will make a Fred-specific post. (actual sex of pictured individual unknown)

Excellent photographic resource, with clear pictures of more exotic species than any other resource I’ve encountered. Range data on spiders may be inaccurate at times; isolated sightings on range map are likely misidentifications.
Has sections for all different lifeforms found worldwide, even microscopic life, organized taxonomically using the kingdom system.

Hi. nice collection of links.
These cool arachnids are called pseudo scorpions.
Order Pseudoscorpiones – Pseudoscorpions – BugGuide.Net
Hello BugmanDan, it’s good to see you back. This is specifically a resource aggregation post; Fred the pseudoscorpion is only a placeholder/mascot for the resource library.
I love it! This will spare me from listing useful resources for volunteers who are new to the site. I’ll add the ones I have Favorited links for. This just became one of them.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_arachnids_of_Ireland List of the arachnids in Ireland. There are many useful lists like this on Wikipedia, by taxon and location.
https://bugguide.net/node/view/84423 This is Bugguide.net’s chart of spiders by number of eyes and eye arrangements
https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/news-events/the-buzz/roly-poly-pill-bugs/ This is info about Woodlice for explaining the prey of Woodlouse Hunting Spiders.
OK, I got it. I can see a place for other arachnids. Perhaps discussion sub forums for the different orders.
https://bugguide.net/node/view/32329#Anchor_Araneae This is a list of non native arthropods in North America. Some are officially harmful invasive species. Others became naturalized and are okay.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider_anatomy This is Wikipedia’s section on spider anatomy. It’s done well.

I’m adding this news article to our Resources thread. It is about the extreme UK media exaggeration and their false info about False Widows.
https://youtu.be/eWDcffhhZQw Here’s a very well-done Youtube video about Pholcus phalangioides Cellar Spiders
I can’t delete this dang thing. A link to our own site was labelled as spam. Who knew?
