I believe some kind of Xysticus(ground crab spider). Xysticus elipticus, perhaps? Not sure if the location fits that species.
It’s behavior was very calm. It remained still the entire time I photographed it.

I highly doubt it is an Xysticus Elipticus.
Below is a list of all Crab Spiders that are found in Utah – based on Wiki, which is not always accurate! But its a start. This spider is probably a small Xysticus and is hard to identify until it gets bigger.
I would love for anyone to chime in on this one!
Crab spider (Bassaniana utahensis)
Crab spider (Ebo merkeli)
Crab spider (Ebo pepinensis)
Crab spider (Mecaphesa spp.)
Crab spider (Xysticus discursans)
Crab spider (Xysticus emertoni)
Crab spider (Xysticus facetus)
Crab spider (Xysticus paiutus)
Crab spider (Xysticus pellax)
Thank you for the input. I looked up all of those. The one that seems to match best is Xysticus facetus. They seem to have the same…lateral bumps…on the abdomen when juveniles, as well as the dark bands on the back legs.
Thanks again!
Anytime! We look forward to seeing some more of your pictures. You are definately talented.
