I identified this dead spider in Gaborone, Botswana. I am not sure but it sure is black with a red belly

Your spider is in family Theridiidae, genus Latrodectus. There are about 6 possible species that it could be.

LHal, there are some rarer similar species in Botswana. They are all in genus Latrodectus. Some examples are: Latrodectus indistinctus (I didn’t make that one up) and L. rhodesiensis..
