It most likely climbed into the package in a storage or shipping facility. It’s not an Asian species. I don’t know if it is established yet in Belgium. If you still have it would be okay to keep it as a pet.
It may be an older female that has already oviposited her eggs for her lifetime. Female spiders’ posteriors angle downward at that point in their life.
Many thanks for the info. The False Wolf spider is not common in Belgium. It looks they arrive here sometimes with transport and can survive due to the climate change.
Oh, it is already established here and very common in Ghent, for sure! I already killed literally hundreds of them in and around my house since 2018. The first time I encountered one of these (female adult) I didn’t recognise it and vaguely thought it to be a giant house-spider because of its size, but then again, I also thought it not to be because of its brownish color and thick legs and general robust appearance.
