Comments & ID Thoughts

I think this is a triangulate con weaver but want some confirmation from someone else if possible! Didn’t kill and it ran away before I could catch it, but want to make sure it’s not dangerous if it shows back up. Found in an upstairs bedroom by the window.

The pattern on the abdomen looks more like Steatoda sp. than Latrodectus to me. Also, the abdomen is more oval and less round than you’d typically see on Latrodectus, which also suggests Steatoda. But if you want confirmation, just look at the underside of the abdomen – Latrodectus geometricus has the unmistakable hourglass you’ll find on L. mactans, just in orange instead of red.
