Steatoda triangulosa. This is a Triangulate Cobweaver. They are in the same family, Theridiidae, as Brown Widows. That’s why they have the same shape. Some Cobweavers even eat the Widows. The venom is much weaker on humans. They try to avoid us by escaping and hiding. Cobweavers are common. They make the true cobweb-type of spider web. Yeah, some of the patterns and colors are odd. Great spiders though!
The cool thing about ones like this, with a lot of gold, is the way they look under a flashlight. They look like gold glitter or gold embossed foil under a clear dome. I’m glad that some offspring survived from my kitchen Triangulate Cobweaver. Their mother is yellow like a school bus with dark brown.
