The circle and spokes orb web is gold. The color is a product of the biochemistry of the spider’s diet. The zigzags are called stabilimenta. The singular of the word is stabilimentum. They are made with different silk that is released in a different way through the spigots on the spinnets. The number and arrangement of the spinnerets and their spigots varies by species.
