Comments & ID Thoughts

Gea Heptagonal? Was found on an open kitchen shelf within a folded cotton dish towel that was washed in the last 10 days. I opened it to cover salad greens and thought it was a stink bug. The dish towel shelf is next to an exterior door. I don't want it in the house but don't want to kill it. Any suggestions?

This might be a Star-bellied Orbweaver https://bugguide.net/node/view/2037/bgimage This is a strange time of year to find her and you found her in a strange place too. She’s either early or late.

She’s not dangerous. A sheltered place, like an open shed, or a woodpile or anything like that might be warm enough for her to survive. She should be outdoors so she can mate when the time is right.
