Yay, it worked! I think this is a pale Dark Fishing Spider, Dolomedes tenebrosus. The markings don’t look like those of a mature spider. It has a cute calico cat look. Connecticut has a lot of these. I’m originally from the Putnam/Woodstock area of NorthEastern CT. This time of year, male spiders are travelling to find willing females for mating. The Fishing Spiders somehow tend to end up in homes in their travels. They can be gently scooped up and placed outdoors.

I considered it. The leg banding looks like tenebrosus. Between our site and Bugguide there is only one ID of albineus in Connecticut. All of its markings are odd. It lacks the W pattern on the abdomen. So, I’m less sure the more I look at it.
