Looks like a sheet web spider. They get fairly big in terms of NZ spiders. More commonly seen at night. We live near the bush so see them all the time.
Cheers for that, had a quick Google and I’d say you’re right. Got pretty lucky I guess seeing one middle of the day, on a fence in an industrial area.
