Beautiful orb weaver!!! Not sure which one but GREAT SHOT!!! Kudos!!

TangledWeb

I think she’s Argiope trifasciata, a Banded Garden Spider. https://birdwatchinghq.com/spiders-of-algeria/ They are an introduced species to Africa. They’re fairly common in USA. My second-best answer is Argiope bruennichi, but the banding on the legs is a better match for Argiope trifasciata.

Good call. Love the link you placed on this spider. N what a pic… just stunning!! I’d be SO grateful
to have one near. What a BEAUTY!! I so love the orb weavers the best. The architecture in genius in their webs is mind blowing!!!

Spideycents, Good News! These can be found in Texas. I found one once in a park near a brook in New Hampshire. I didn’t expect that. This species can shake its web violently, like bad acting in a horror movie. The man who was with me ran away from it. The shaking thing works. That was the first time I ever used a bird watching link here. I was impressed by it. 🙂

I liked the link. N I like that it refers to it as the “Tropical-tent” spider as well. In East Texas my friends mother would set up a grand gypsy summer tent each year n a huge “banana” spider like this one would set up inside in a corner each summer. That’s the only time I’ve ever seen one. I hope I see one again. The ones that setup here a lot r the Furrow orb weavers from the forest next to me.
