I don't know much about spiders, so I have no idea what this is. It is photographed on the west facing wall of my house, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is about 3" including the legs, and with the low sun (photographed at about 7:45 pm) it appears to have reddish bands on the outer part of its front legs. I've seen similar ones around here from time to time, including in my basement. I've never seen a web and I think this spider is not a web builder.
