I believe it's a Trichonephila clavipes (Golden Silk Orb-weaver) but I'm unsure how to identify the sex. Was able to identify it through this database (thank you!) and just wanted to provide a picture of my own to help others out.

You got the species right. Males by comparison are small.
They also lack the tufts at the leg joints.
You have a nice shot of a female.
